THE PROVINCE OF MISIONES





The province of misiones is located at the north-east region of Argentina, inserted in between Paraguay and the Federative Republic of Brazil, this region has to offer a great touristic potential.

Besides its natural atractive, these region offers a great historical background. The Spanish Colonization Strongly imprinted the local´s way´s of life. One of the most significant aspects it did so, regards to religion. The San Ignacion Mini ruins offer a great and vivid example of the importance given to these matter. These ruins used to be at that time, the civic, social and spiritual refuge for many indian tribes, escaping from the slave hunters. The province has to offer many and varied touristic options. Among others we can mention the immigrants festival. Celebrated once a year at Obera, were each colony, from different regions of the world, shares with the open public it´s tradition´s, culture, home made meals and typical dances. This trip offers great trekking trails, pictoric landscapes and a thrilling speed boat ride through the white waters of the Uruguay River, along side the 3km length of the fall. An unforgetable memory! All along side the 12th road we can find extent plantations of Yerba Mate, Tee and reforested areas of Conifers. These cultives are the main economic activitie of the province.
Once in the Iguazu county, at the city´s of “Wanda” and “Libertad”, nature exposes it´s wonders once again! Located at these city’s we can find the
open sky mines of precious stones. Here local artist´s give shape to fantastic figures made with “Topacio”, “Rock Cristal” and “Agata”. As the culminating spectacle of our journey will visit the National Park of Iguazu. It’s biodiversified wildlife and it´s exuberant vegetation covering more than 55.000 hectar´s, provide the luxuriant atmosphere for the endless faterfall’s, more than 275, 80 mts high, distributed along side 2.700 mts. The exuberant vegetation and the varied wildlife make off the walking trails and expectacle on their own. These park is the home for many species, offering the visitor a great chance for observing rare birds, endangered mamals as the Tapir and an endless variety of peculiar insects and colorful butterflys.

CORRIENTES PARADISE

Corrientes offers an ample variety of attractions, all the year round, that makes it a naturally amused province. Fishing, beaches, adventure, ranches, history, religion, mate, chamamé and carnival, everything with the affection and cordiality that only the correntinian people can offer.

With a 1.400.000 hectares extension, the Esteros of the Ibera, is the second biggest damp zone of sudamerica and one of the main fresh water reserves of the world. In the Iberá reserve, enormous diversity of species, animals and vegetables can be seen, alligator, capibara, monkeys and swamp deers. The Itatí Virgin
In the city of Itati, the virgin’s sanctuary rises, where each 16 of July pilgrims from all the country arrive. The caravan of carts and horses comes from “San Luis del Palmar”.
Peregrination to Itatí
Thousands of peregrines cross this land every year in an imposing procession and arrive every 16 of july to the Basilica of Itatí. The caravan leaves from the locality of San Luis del Palmar (where converge faithful from other localities) conformed by cars and horses carts, surrounded by riders and peregrines families of peregrines. The peregrines march in permanent oration and singing, giving thanks for their prodigies and miracles to the Itatí Virgin.


An Encounter With Our Own History
The rich correntinian history is reflected in the corners of its older towns, where it is possible to appreciate vestiges of the guaraní culture, to discover print of books of the jesuítics missions and to drill in the past of the fights for the independence, finding our own history. You can cross the hole Jesuitic route by the Uruguay river or just visit Yapeyú, where General San Martín was born, where his native house is conserved and where the Sanmartinian Museum is.


All year is Carnival
The city of Corrientes is the National capital of the carnival, a place gained by the magnificence of its samba schools, the luxury of its suits, the beauty of its women and the rhythm of music.
